This is a link to the California's Graywater Standards, which gives an excellent overview of grey water installations (used water from bathtubs, showers, bathroom wash basins, and water from clothes washing machines and laundry tubs). This water is used for landscaping, and as such is not needed in the Gulf Coast, but where I live in Texas we water our yards with drinkable quality tap water. What a waste!
